Travelling

“To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world.” – Freya Stark Attention!! Do not expect this to be a travel blog!! It is more of a personal experience put in an honest and straight way; I hope that my honesty proves as a fine entertainment to you. Go now, Grab popcorn! So this blog post is basically about the recent adventure that I experienced to convince myself as a self-proclaimed mature adult and an independent woman who can manage herself and make her  life decisions. So, me being a typically picky, choosy person who wrinkles up her nose at the mention of sports or extra physical efforts, or who cries to death if she has to let go of her comfort for a day (cries inside my head, remember I am a strong independent woman?), who unconventionally unlike other females prefers naps over work or who has in past canceled a lot of plans to pastoral areas because of their lack of sanitation facilities(and no I am talking about an ...

Happy whatever day it is today

Okay… I know it’s been long since I have posted anything here.  It is so good to be back, atleast for me. So today when I woke up I suddenly got bombarded with messages wishing me “happy women’s day”, I swear on holy whatsapp that I have not received these many messages even on my birthday. My fever shot up when I saw everyone ranting about women and respect, even on the facebook and other social media platforms. Oh how I loved to scroll through it! Ofcourse, even if im sounding rude any normal person would not have taken pains to read all this garbage (I repeat, garbage) same garbage every freaking year. WHY????? So this particular post won’t be a ranting about women rights, the number of rape cases and domestic violence cases that have happened and are still happening even though there is a huge circulation of whatsapp messages respecting women, or about how valuable and hardworking a woman is or how you should state yourself as a feminist or “I am not a feminist but I respect...
Time Wrap It was 7 a.m in the morning. Shirley woke up with a different kind of a feeling. She felt really light and relaxed. She surely had a goodnight’s sleep. She was feeling so fresh and good that she almost forgot about the tiff she had with her mother the previous night. Shirley’s parents got divorced when she was in 4 th grade. As per the laws, her mother got her custody. She was allowed to meet her father every weekend. Shirley’s mother was an activist and a socialite. She was always busy with her work, NGO and parties. She loved her mother but lacked the support and love from her mother that an adolescent usually needs. The previous night she had found about her mother’s affair with a middle aged businessman. Well, instead of her mother telling her about it, it was the newspaper which told her...
Book Review: The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle Author: Haruki Murakami Pages: 607 Genre: Surreal Reading a Murakami book is easy. But, what is difficult is to understand it and even after u have understood and interpreted it, it is difficult to explain or review it. I have no idea where to start my review from. So, i have decided to break the novel into its various characters and review through them (which is the way the story is told in the novel). Simplifying the basic plot: The story revolves around the life of Toru Okada and his wife Kumiko Okada. Toru has lost his job and stays at home while Kumiko goes out to work. One fine day, Toru and Kumiko lose their beloved cat, which they had adopted after their marriage. Kumiko expresses the cat to be the sign of their married life and right after losing it things starts breaking down in their married life. Kumiko without prior warning leaves Toru. She asks Toru to file a divorce through her brother and she refuses to meet him...
They Said NOTE: I am not usually involved or like to get involved in political writings. But, this particular incident which occurred a few days ago at UNA, Gujarat where Dalits were beaten brutally by certain police people and their video was taken and made viral shot lacerated pains in every part of my mind. I wonder what is happening to us? Where are we heading? Are we thinking with our own minds or someone else's? What are we getting from differentiation? Why aren't we satisfied by a peaceful society? do we need more Gandhis and Ambedkars? Aren't we the advanced generation? All these questions struck to me and forced me to pen down this little piece of poem. It is not the usual "poem." It is sarcastic yet poignant. Go ahead and have a read.    THEY SAID 10 pm:   “dinner time”, they said. 11 pm:   “the animal by the lane should be fed, it is written there in those holy books”, they said. 12 am: ...
PINT OF BLOOD I was the only child to my parents. I enjoyed the benefits of being an only child like having everything for myself, getting pampered and scolded from both my parents, getting attention from all the relatives and so on. But apart from all these perks of being an only child I used to feel lonely and terrible at times, I had no one to fight with, share secrets with, team up against my parents with and other usual things that an only child misses upon. The most happening time of my year would be the school break where I used to visit my maternal uncle’s place, my maternal uncle was some sort of a big shot in his business and had a huge bunglow in the hilly area at Junagadh, Gujarat. He had two sons, one of them used to stay in Mumbai as he aspired to become a hotelier and studied hotel management there and the other son who was a year older than I used to study at Junagadh. My mamaji (maternal uncle) had to travel a lot regarding his business and so I used to ge...
She and He She stepped on a pebble, it was big enough to steady her fingers on it, but she couldn’t balance herself.  She then balanced over her firm foot on the ground. There was a puddle right in front of her, and she looked around and confirmed that no eyes were at her. The college students were busy bustling with their vehicles from the parking, and everyone was leaving with their transparent rain proof attires. Yes!! She would be alone now, no eyes watch her and so she splashed in the puddle. The momentarily happiness reminded her of her world,  innocent and pure,  where any such act was taken as an act of innocence.  No one judged her, no one stopped her, and no one made her care about the society and just like the splashing sound her nostalgia ended up in seconds all washed away like the cobweb or dust upon the trees with the first rain.  She then realized that she had to return to her home and hire an auto.  The rains were heavy and so...
